History
Three Rivers Hospital is located in Waverly, Tennessee (Humphreys County). Waverly is 65 miles west of Nashville, Tennessee, with a population of approximately 4,500. The population of the county is approximately 18,000. The area is enhanced by the distinctive advantage of immediate access to the Duck, Tennessee, and Buffalo River and railways, and in close proximity to Interstate 40. Humphreys County is surrounded by Kentucky Lake, and offers the ultimate in water recreational sports, fishing and hunting. The county is represented by communities in Waverly (the County Seat), New Johnsonville, McEwen, Hurricane Mills and Buffalo.
Three Rivers Hospital was originally opened in 1961, and was owned and operated by local physicians until its acquisition by Humana, Inc, in 1968. In 1983, the hospital, then named Nautilus Memorial Hospital, was acquired by American Healthcare Management, Inc. In June, 1989, the hospital was acquired by Three Rivers Hospital Group, L.P., of Atlanta, Georgia. In June, 1996 the hospital, then known as Three Rivers Community Hospital, was acquired by Baptist Hospital of Nashville, Tennessee. In December, 1999 the hospital, then known as Baptist Three Rivers Hospital, was acquired by Associated Healthcare Systems, Inc. Three Rivers Hospital was designated by CMS as a Critical Access Hospital on November 1st, 2000. Three Rivers Hospital employs approximately 130 individuals. It is the only hospital in Humphreys County.
